The switch is the heart of an office network: every PC, printer, phone, camera and access point connects through it. Small offices with a handful of devices can use an unmanaged switch that works out of the box. As soon as you need separate networks for staff, guests and cameras, or want to see what is happening on the network, a managed or smart-managed switch is the right choice.
Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches power Wi-Fi access points, IP phones and CCTV cameras through the data cable, which removes the need for sockets at every device. Check the total PoE budget in watts as well as the port count. For Wi-Fi, a business system of ceiling-mounted access points — TP-Link Omada, Ubiquiti UniFi, Aruba Instant On or Cisco — gives seamless roaming across a floor in a way a single router cannot.

What is the difference between a router and a switch?
